Lately, with all of the events in places like Egypt and Bahrain, I realize that if it were not for social media, I would have missed world changing events.
I don’t own or watch a TV. I’m actually canceling my cable service if I can, but the fact is that if it had not been for my twitter timeline, I wouldn’t have even known that people had started a movement that led to revolution and their shaky freedom.
Who would have thought?
Social media channels have become my new “news channel” and what’s more, I can interact with the reporters on a moment by moment basis. I enjoy this fact very much. It forces me to deal with events that I could’ve lived my life being ignorant about and that is a good thing. I should be aware of things happening outside of my little drawer in Georgia.
